Bernstein: This Still Looks Like the Bears

Chicago Bears Still Look Unimpressive Despite Win Over Texans

The Chicago Bears picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, but it wasn't exactly a thing of beauty. Chicago beat the Houston Texans 23-20 in overtime, but the Bears still looked like a team with a lot of problems.

Justin Fields Struggles Continue

Quarterback Justin Fields completed just 11 of 22 passes for 106 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also ran for 40 yards on nine carries.

Fields has now thrown for less than 150 yards in three of the Bears' four games this season, and he has yet to throw for a touchdown in the second half of any game.

Bears Defense Still Giving Up Big Plays

The Bears defense has been one of the worst in the NFL this season, and that didn't change on Sunday. The Texans put up 389 yards of offense, including 201 yards rushing.

The Texans also converted 8 of 16 third downs and 3 of 4 fourth downs. The Bears defense has now allowed opponents to convert 48% of their third downs this season, which is the worst mark in the NFL.

Bears Still Have a Lot of Work to Do

The Bears are now 1-3 on the season, and they have a tough schedule ahead of them. Chicago will play the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Commanders in their next three games.

If the Bears want to make the playoffs, they will need to start playing better soon. The Bears have a lot of problems to fix, and they don't have much time to do it.
